Terms of Service

By accessing or using our website, creating an account, or booking a lesson, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and students of Teacher Carol's online Chinese language teaching services ("we", "us", "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

We offer online Mandarin Chinese language tuition via video conference (Zoom). Services include one-on-one lessons, study materials, homework, and feedback. Lesson duration is typically 60 minutes unless otherwise agreed.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for any material changes that affect your booked lessons.

All lessons are conducted in English and/or Mandarin Chinese depending on the student's level and preference.

Lessons must be booked and paid for in advance through our website. Payment is due at the time of booking. We accept major credit/debit cards and PayPal.

For package bookings (10-session bundles), full payment is required upfront. Packages are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

All prices are listed in USD. We are not responsible for currency conversion fees charged by your bank or payment provider.

Lesson bookings are confirmed only upon successful payment and email confirmation from us.

You may cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge by providing at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a late cancellation fee of 50% of the session price. This compensates for the time slot that was reserved and cannot be filled at short notice.

If Teacher Carol needs to cancel a lesson, you will be notified as early as possible and offered a full reschedule or refund.

Single lessons are refundable in full if cancelled at least 24 hours before the session. The free trial lesson has no monetary value and therefore no refund applies.

For package purchases, unused sessions are refundable upon request, minus a 10% administration fee to cover processing costs.

Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to your original payment method.

Students are responsible for: having a working internet connection, camera, and microphone for lessons; joining the lesson on time via the provided Zoom link; treating Teacher Carol with respect and professionalism; completing assigned homework to the best of their ability.

We reserve the right to terminate services to any student who behaves in a disrespectful, abusive, or inappropriate manner, without refund.

All study materials, worksheets, recordings, and content provided as part of the lessons are the intellectual property of Teacher Carol. These are for your personal use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or resold without express written permission.

Lesson recordings shared with you are for your personal review only. You may not publish, share, or distribute recordings of lessons without written consent.

Our services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee specific language learning outcomes or exam results.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services, including but not limited to technical failures, missed lessons due to internet outages, or exam outcomes.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of our services shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 3 months preceding the claim.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on our website. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Beijing, China.
